The Jewish Center of Northwest Jersey operates a Hebrew School for children ages 6-13 (typically grades 1-7) which is held Sundays from 9:30am to noon. The entire congregation takes responsibility for our children's education, therefore the school is free for any child of a member in good standing. (Books, supplies and activities costs are billed separately.) Our teachers and B'nai Mitzvah tutors are all temple members, so they are doubly committed to our children's education.

Children are taught Hebrew, customs and traditions, history and the meaning of Judaism. They celebrate the holidays in festive fashion and join the congregation for such holidays as Sukkot, Chanukah and Purim. Special activities, such as making applesauce for Chanukah latkes, are held to bring the traditions of Judaism to life (see the Chanukah

There is also a Confirmation Class (grades 8-10) which meets monthly - our students routinely continue their education. An annual retreat is a highlight of their experience.
