Welcome from Holli Viau
School Principal

Shalom!
My name is Holli Winick Viau, and I am honored and thrilled to be starting my new position as the Religious and Hebrew Schools Principal.  My teaching experience, both at Shaarai and other places, and my time as a Master Teacher has helped to bring me to this place in my teaching career.
I have a B.S. of Education from Millersville University, and am a certified elementary teacher in the state of Pennsylvania.  I have 45 credits toward a certification in Special Education that I hope to complete soon.  My teaching experience includes 4th grade, 5th grade, daily substituting, and my other current positions as Assistant Director of Early Childhood Education and full-day Kindergarten Teacher at JCAL Academy at the Lancaster JCC.  I love to take part in Shaarai Day Camp each summer, to be a small part of the fun experiences and special memories created there.
My husband Jacques and I met at Millersville University, and stayed in Lancaster County from then on.  We were married in 1993, and both started out first teaching jobs that Fall.  We now live in Manheim Township with our two great children Hannah and Benjamin.
I look forward to continuing my relationships with all of the many parents and students I have taught during my time as the Kindergarten and Pre-K teacher in our Religious School.  My hope is to get to know many more students and their parents, and to have an impact on many more of their educational experiences.  My main goal for the educational program is for it to always be evolving and improving for the benefit of our students.  We will also be working closely with all teachers, to further their knowledge base, as well as to enhance their experiences as Jewish educators.
I want to work with parents to help them become involved in our outstanding educational programs, which will, in the long run, benefit all of our students!  We want parents to know about what is going on at Religious and Hebrew Schools, and in their child’s classrooms in particular, so that the ideas and values taught are easier transferred into the daily lives of our students. This is easily accomplished by keeping in touch with teachers and with me, and by checking our website, flyers, and bulletin.  My wish for our students is to learn and grow with us, and to then go out into the world and be mensches!     Please feel free to contact me any time at Shaarai at 397-5575, or by email at hviau@shaarai.org.
